tears on the flight in. kind of one of those things about growing up in generation Y. new york has been one of those milestones that you see all your life in films and hope to one day see it for real. its the mecca of all things consumerism. so in other words all you could ever want as a gen y-er.
I'm not sue if my expectations were too high about this place being some kind of saviour of my life but its actually really scary. i knew i was going to love it at some point but amongst being rained on an not really know where the heck the subway stations were and where the subway was taking me (complete gamble and i finally figured it out)
i even ATE subway while looking for the subway so i think that helped.
so all my fantasies (my whole life) of arriving in NYC on a sunny day and everyone being nice & eating bagels was a rainy cold day!
But i tottered along with y $2 umbrella and discovered this giant machine that has amazing-ness on every corner. great to meet up and lunch with my good friend hamish who showed me his amazing studio on 5th ave and the best cafe near madison. we went to one of the trendiest (so i found out) restaurants for dinner. food was out of this world mexican. not bad for my first day!
people who said they appreciated my outfit = 4
people who asked me for directions = 1 (i must look like a new yorker)(yay)
times getting lost/disorientated = lets not talk about it. (did i mention someone asked me for directions?)
shopping bags = 5

san fransisco is freaking gorgeous. the houses look like dolls houses. it was sunny every day i was there and it was a cool place to hang. although coming fresh from melbourne which im told is quite similar to san fran i think to get the full on experience you need to go to another us city first to see how different it is. hot fashion. next stop NYC. this little girl and her mum had matching chihuaha's. the little one was seriously the size of a grande starbucks cup. just sayin. that shi cray. miss money penny
I have been saving for my trip to San Fran & NYC so this year i have been holding back on purchases! i know tough to imagine me doing that but can i tell you... since pulling back on the shopping (no ASOS outside work hours) I have been SO much more creative with my wardrobe!
So the rule was nothing new unless it was vintage (aka a one off and amazing) or a couple of things from Cotton On (the company i work for whose stuff is cheap anyways and i get discount)
I have made skirts out of bath mats, spray painted shoes, made necklaces, found the best vintage ever and RELLY worked my wardrobe for all its worth.
So here are a couple of pairs of shoes that i got from rubi shoes (cotton ons shoe store) for half price and.. ahem... re-appropriated with spray paint...
I would post allt he amazing vintage i found but i know what its like when you read blogs and they are all vintage and then you cant buy them yourself! so i'll wait and put them in outfit shots...
